Welcome to the Annotated Crumbs #2, I'm your host KevinG. Written and drawn some 6 months later, #2 takes a bigger bite out of overall Crumbs story. According to the synopsis in the official ApocaParty handout - "Chuck sleeps, dreaming of a knight named Charles, who is questing in the snow plains
of Pacheco... A very angry bear is stalking him and his companion Mr. Ligg, and blood
is soon flowing. Meanwhile outside of the dream, Becky is upset over Chuck’s outright
dismissal of her needs, and steals one of his cigarettes. Upon waking, Chuck attempts
to beat Becky to death over the cigarette, but is miraculously saved by a bear of a man
named Felix and his blind lover Pat. Dream and reality mix when Chuck regains consciousness, and he goes out to save her back from Felix, who is not the savior we thought." Felix and Pat were creations of my friend Morgan, borrowed with permission. First glimpsed here is how Chuck lives simultaneously in separate worlds, mind over matter after all, and if you are crazy than who knows where you are? Is it coincidence that the duality of Chuck and Charles begins after the night of the leg? Inquiring minds want to know... also introduced is how Chuck is not a very nice guy, but how could you be if you are one of the few who've survived the "BIG A"? Here's a hint, Chuck for one is not.
